"In Naturopathic Medicine, we talk about getting to the root of a problem. It sounds cliché, 'treat the root cause,' but there really is no better way to explain what I do. If we aren't getting to the root cause, we are not really treating the patient; We are addressing symptoms and masking underlying conditions.

There is a reason we have symptoms. It is the malfunction of a necessary physiological process. This malfunction may have a different cause for each patient, and depending upon many other factors, the symptoms may not be the same. However, those symptoms are present in order to tell us very important messages about what is going on.

I tell my patients, 'there is a reason for everything." There is a reason you are tired, there is a reason you are depressed, there is a reason you have a skin rash, there is a reason your hair is falling out, there is a reason you are having diarrhea, constipation, acid reflux, and gas. There is a reason you cannot sleep at night, and there is also a reason you are in pain.

In my practice, it is about investigating why you are having those symptoms and why you have the conditions you are diagnosed with.

In almost every case, improvement can be made. In many cases, patients experience resolution of symptoms. Naturopathic Medicine is not a 'quick fix.' It takes time. That duration will vary patient-to-patient, case-by-case. For some, it is days. For others, it is years. Medicine is very individualized because we are very individualized beings. We have approximately 10 million genetic SNPs, and so one person's cause is not another person's cause. It is often a combination of factors to address for each patient.

I encourage you to make an appointment if you are ready to feel well and work with a practitioner who will take into account the entire system as a whole, identifying barriers to health/wellbeing, and working to find what your 'cause' is. "
